An Educator Gets Her Due Dianne Trost, Omaha, Nebraska February 23, 2001 Who are the unsung heroes in your life? Share your stories. Dear goodthings, I am a teacher at an alternative high school in the largest district in Nebraska. The school also happens to be in the inner city. Our dean of students does such a tremendous job. Her ability to diffuse a situation, offer support and guidance to students, staff, and her community, and yet create and provide enriching and rewarding opportunities is not only rare but magnificent!! Her compassion, spirituality, and her devotion to her job and staff influence us all in a very positive way. Unfortunately, in today's society, teachers and school administrators do not get nearly the recognition they richly deserve. What schools do everyday for our communities' children is literally in the category of miracle-making. Dr. Patricia Frampton, our dean of students, has done so much for her students and their families yet no one seems to appreciate it. I think it is about time we focus on the real everyday heroes! Want to share your stories of inspirational people in your life? We'll help you spread the word. Send 'em our way. |
